Breast Uplift
Patients who have had children, or lost weight rapidly may have a large breast that is now drooping, and may be a candidate for breast uplift surgery. This surgery is much more complicated than simple breast enlargement and may or not require an implant - even those patients with adequate breast tissue may still need to have an implant to get a satisfactory round shape. The nipple is cut around and elevates and breast tissue is pushed upwards with a zip like scar. It is known as the lollipop scar as it goes round the nipple and straight down.
Pre Surgery
Patients over the age of 30 will be offered a mammogram . It will then be discussed whether or not a breast implant is necessary.

Surgery Time
The surgery time is normally around 3 hours for a breast uplift , but if an implant is used then an additional hour may be necessary.
Post Surgery
Breast uplift is a much more complicated surgery than simple breast enlargement and care will have to be taken post surgery . Aerobic activity and strenuous exercise should be avoided for 6 weeks, avoid lifting heavy objects and stretching upwards. The downward scar from the nipple is supporting all the uplift and needs to have time to anchor into place. A sports bra will need to be worn day and night for 4 weeks.
